Bohr founded the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Copenhagen, now known as the Niels Bohr Institute, which opened in 1920. Bohr mentored and collaborated with physicists including Hans Kramers, Oskar Klein, George de Hevesy, and Werner Heisenberg. Niels Bohr, Danish physicist who is generally regarded as one of the foremost physicists of the 20th century. He was the first to apply the quantum concept to the problem of atomic and molecular structure. In atomic physics, the Bohr model or Rutherford–Bohr model is an obsolete model of the atom that incorporated some early quantum concepts. Niels Henrik David Bohr was born in Copenhagen on , as the son of Christian Bohr, Professor of Physiology at Copenhagen University, and his wife Ellen, née Adler. The Bohr model is a description of the structure of atoms proposed in 1913 by the Danish physicist Niels Bohr. The Bohr model of the atom, a radical departure from earlier, classical descriptions, was the first to incorporate quantum theory and was the predecessor of wholly quantum-mechanical models. For related background details, please refer to our report on wiring a 240 outlet. Niels Bohr was a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and humanitarian whose revolutionary theories on atomic structures helped shape research worldwide. Bohr became one of Denmark's most famous and acclaimed people and a central figure in 20th century physics. The discovery of the electron and radioactivity in the late 19th century led to different models being proposed for the atom’s structure. The Bohr model represents the structure of an atom developed by Danish physicist Niels Bohr in 1913. According to this model, the atomic structure is similar to that of the solar system.
