Two-barrel downdraft Holley 2280 carburetor Cross-sectional schematic A carburetor (also spelled carburettor or carburetter) [1][2][3] is a device used by a gasoline internal combustion engine to control and mix air and fuel entering the engine. [4] The primary method of adding fuel to the intake air is through the Venturi effect or Bernoulli's principle or with a pitot tube in the main ... Carburetors for anything you drive, including 1-barrel, 2-barrel, 4-barrel, spreadbore, off-road, and marine carbs. Over 20 brands available. A carburetor is a key part of an engine that mixes air and fuel for the proper combustion. It maintains the correct air-fuel ratio and is less expensive than fuel injection systems. It controls engine speed, helps start the engine in cold weather, and also stores some fuel. The carburetor, or carb, is mixes air and fuel together to supply your vehicle’s engine with the optimal air fuel ratio for performance. Unlike the fuel injectors on direct injection engines, carbs are purely mechanical, meaning they can mix air and fuel without help from computers like ECUs or PCUs. Holley is the home for street, race, marine, and off-road carburetors.
