Someone installed my cat6e wall jack using the "A" pattern. (The A and B patterns are printed right in there to compare with the actual wires.) I checked it and it's "A". I have now put an rj45 plug ... ICC introduced the CAT6e cable as a premium offering to CAT6, just like most bulk cable manufacturers. In addition, CAT6e cable with grounded foil shielding can reach 10-Gigabit Ethernet speeds without having to reduce the maximum length of 100 meters. There is no published specification called "Cat6e." The term is used by some manufacturers and resellers as a marketing label - sometimes to describe an enhanced or higher-quality Cat6 cable, sometimes simply as a way to differentiate products on shelves. ICC Cat6e CMR Riser 1000ft – UTP 23AWG, 100% Solid Pure Copper, Unshielded, Bulk Ethernet Cable, PoE++, 600MHz, Reelex Pull Box, UL Certified, RoHS, TAA and NEC Compliant We offer multiple variations of each of the different Cat6/Cat6E/Cat6A cables, including thinner and more flexible jackets. This is often achieved by reducing the conductor size or jacket makeup and thickness without affecting the performance of the cable. For related background details, please refer to our report on detached garage garage wiring for dummies. “Cat6e” stands for Category 6 “enhanced” – a marketing term used by cable manufacturers to describe improved versions of Cat6 cables with better shielding and potentially higher frequencies. With Cat6 being a trusted standard and Cat6e promising enhanced performance, it’s easy to get confused. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know about Cat6 vs. Cat6e—specifications, performance, standardization, and practical tips—so you can make an informed decision for your home, office, or data center.
